Why the 2019 Dumbo Remake was Actually Better than the Original

Critics are always saying that theatrical remakes are often bad and very rarely as good. Such is really not the case with Dumbo. Even though the title character is still nonverbal, the remake is rightfully twice as good, and here's why:

1. There are five less of these guys in the remake, and they've always been a pop cultural nuisance:

I won't be so specific about them, but there are 11 in Cinderella (1950) if you count the extras. And Timothy Mouse gets a lot less screen time in the Dumbo remake, never a bad thing.

2. The new screen writers actually dreamed up an extra way to poke fun at the title character, not a bad thing either. It actually makes the remake a good live action comedy, which Hollywood can't always correctly orchestrate.
